USDA restricts or prohibits the movement of certain fruits, vegetables, plants and other items within the U.S. to prevent the spread of plant and animal pests and diseases that can be in (or on) plants, animals, fruits and souvenirs carried by travelers.
Before you bring any regulated items, you should first determine if they meet the entry or exit requirements. To do this, you can check with your state's department of agriculture. They should maintain a summary of current regulations affecting the movement of agricultural items from state to state.
U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) provides information about import requirements and permits for plants, plant parts, fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural items.
