If your baggage has been delayed or damaged, it is important to make a baggage claim with a JetBlue crewmember while you're at the airport.

If you need to make the claim once you've left the airport, please call the JetBlue Baggage Service Office at the airport you flew into within four hours after arrival.

A Baggage Service Representative Will Be Available To Receive/Return Your Call Typically Between The Hours Of 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and again 11 p.m. through Midnight.

Boarding & Deplaning Options - SFO
All boarding and deplaning in San Francisco is done via the jetbridge. San Francisco does not participate in boarding or deplaning from the back of the aircraft.

Car Rentals - SFO

San Francisco International Airport’s Rental Car Center allows travelers to pick up and drop off rental cars at one convenient, central location. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty car rental counters are located on the fourth floor of the SFO Rental Car Center.

To access the Rental Car Center from the Airport terminals, take the AirTrain Blue Line. AirTrain operates 24 hours a day. AirTrain stations are located in all terminals, parking garages, the Rental Car Center and SFO’s BART station.

Check-in & Gate Information - SFO

ticket counter hours and location

Our ticket counter is located in the International Terminal the location of our ticket counter in the International Terminal varies daily. Please refer to television screens in the terminal for our current location. The ticket counter is open daily from 7:00 a.m. - 11:45 p.m.

We recommend you arrive at the airport at least 60 minutes prior to departure. Avoid delays by checking for traffic alerts, and allow enough time to go through TSA screening, particularly during holidays and peak travel days. Please note, JetBlue has cutoff times for baggage check in, and also for check in at the departure gate; JetBlue will not be responsible for expenses incurred due to late check in.

You will need a boarding pass to get through security. You will be notified of your gate upon check in.

check-in requirements for domestic travel

Government issued identification is required for all customers 18 years of age and over. Identification is not required for any person under the age of 18.

The name on the ID must match the name in the reservation.

Forms of valid identification for domestic flights are described below.

One form of photo ID, including:

  • Driver's license
  • Passport
  • Photo ID issued by a government agency
  • JetBlue Airways Corporation ID card

-OR-

Two forms of non-photo ID including:

  • Social Security card
  • Medicare/Medicaid card
  • Voters Registration card
  • Driver's license without photo
  • ID issued by a government agency

Customers traveling with an infant as a lap child may be asked for proof of age, such as a passport, birth certificate (copies are acceptable for domestic travel) or an immunization record when the infant's age is questionable. Infants between three and 14 days old must also have, in the form of a letter, their doctor's approval to travel.

Unaccompanied minors must check in at the ticket counter. An unaccompanied minor does not need photo ID. However, the adult dropping them off and picking them up will need photo ID. This adult must be named in the reservation.

Your confirmation number or itinerary may be helpful, but are not necessary to check in.

All reservations not paid for at least 30 minutes prior to departure are subject to cancellation.

check-in cut-off time

Checked baggage may not be accepted less than 30 minutes prior to the flight departure time. We will not be liable for any charges incurred for baggage that was checked late, nor will we be liable for delivery or compensation for late checked baggage.

If you are not checking bags, you may check in up to 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure and must be in the gate area at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

boarding cut-off time

Each customer must be onboard the aircraft 15 minutes prior to departure. Standby customers may be cleared at 10 minutes to departure. Any customer not onboard, even if they have checked in and received a boarding pass, may be denied boarding and will not be entitled to denied boarding compensation.

kiosk check in

If you have a confirmed reservation, feel free to use a kiosk machine to check in. You may check in using the kiosk no more than four hours prior to departure if you are checking baggage. Customers with no checked baggage may check in within 24 hours from their scheduled departure time. Kiosk check in is not available 30 minutes or less before departure.

You can retrieve your information and check in at a kiosk using one of the following methods:

  • Reservation number
  • Emailed itinerary with the bar code
  • Credit card with your name on it
  • TrueBlue number or email address and password if you're a TrueBlue member

In order to validate your boarding pass, you'll need to present it along with your photo ID at the gate.

skycap and curbside check in

Skycap service is not available at San Francisco International Airport.


Check in & Pick Up Info for Unaccompanied Minors - SFO

Photo identification is required for both parties who drop off and pick up an unaccompanied minor. Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted without the guardian's photo ID.

When a gate pass is issued, it is the TSA's decision as to whether a young child, in addition to the unaccompanied minor, may pass through security with the adult.

drop off information

Parents/guardians who are dropping off their minors may leave the airport before the plane has left the gate as long as they have their cell phone number documented on the minor's reservation.

In the event of a gate return, a JetBlue Crewmember will contact the parent/guardian so that he/she can immediately return to the airport to meet their minor. Please note, the parent/guardian must request a gate pass at the airport ticket counter to pick up their minor at the departure gate.

pick up information

When picking up an unaccompanied minor, please go to the baggage claim carousel 12 on the arrivals level of the terminal. Please arrive at the airport no later than 30 minutes before the scheduled arrival. If you arrive later than 30 minutes, you will have to go to the JetBlue ticket counter to pick up the unaccompanied minor.

The child will only be released to the person indicated on the unaccompanied minor form or on the reservation and that person must present their government issued photo ID.

Paging at SFO is done by plasma monitors throughout the terminals and is visual only. In the event of an emergency, voice paging can be requested. The number for both kinds of paging is 650-821-8211.

Taxis depart from the designated zones located at the roadway Center Islands, on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level of all terminals. Uniformed taxi coordinators are stationed at the taxi zones from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. to assist passengers.

BART Rapid Rail

BART operates rapid rail service to northern San Mateo County, San Francisco and the East Bay directly from SFO. The SFO BART station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level (Level 3) of the International Terminal, on the Boarding Area G side of the terminal near the Berman Reflection Room. BART may also be accessed from any terminal by riding SFO's AirTrain to the Garage G/BART Station stop. There is no charge to board AirTrain. BART provides a direct connection to Caltrain at the Millbrae station.

Caltrain Commuter Rail

Caltrain provides rail service between San Francisco and San Jose, with weekday commute-hour service to Gilroy. BART connects SFO to the Caltrain rail system at the Millbrae Station. Weekday express trains serve select stations during commute hours.
